"I've always wanted to make music that I could believe in and do shows built on solid musicianship and versatility." --Gordon Roqué

Whether he is singing a soulful ballad or frenetically rocking out on the piano, Nashville-based singer/songwriter/pianist Gordon Roqué is an unconventional mix of rugged emotion and understated power when he performs.  The songs he writes are all inspired by actual events, and he makes it a rule never to perform a song that he does not genuinely relate to.  The result is a heartfelt and full-throttle delivery of so many meaningful ideas and events culled from his very own existence.  For Roqué, if something does not evolve from a place of truth, then it is not worth exploring.  He is clearly an artist who wears his heart on his sleeve.

All of this is hugely apparent in the songs from Roque's debut album "Seahorses". From the uptempo bluesy-ness of "Villain" to the vintage music box feel of "Mr. Stranger" to the mournful and string-laden "Tears In Savannah", an unfailing desire to explore hidden longing and emotions is evident. There is the percussive anger in the fiery song "Fear", the sense of isolation in "The Boy In the Room", and the slightest glimmer of hope in the piano/cello ballad "Pale Sunshine".  Roque's own tender, private losses are honestly shared.

This emotional intensity informs Roqué's music and performances.  If you want to see an artist give 200% of his mind, body, and soul to his music, Gordon Roqué is decidedly a sure bet.
